Twenty years ago, Brendan McManus SJ lost his brother Donal to suicide.
Brendan started to write and speak extensively about his grief journey and the support structures he found valuable in guiding him towards finding peace and direction in his life.
He wrote Surviving Suicide Bereavement where he offered advice on the complex suicide grief process and what he personally found helpful for survival, adaptation and thriving. This book struck a chord, with many readers finding support and comfort in the text.
Now, on the twentieth anniversary of his brother’s death, Brendan has written this revised edition of the popular book, with additional reflection points and a linking of the grief recovery process to the help and guidance available in Ignatian spirituality, specifically the Spiritual Exercises.
