Devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe has evolved for nearly five centuries into a deeply rooted, multifaceted tradition. Guadalupan studies, however, have tended to focus on the origins of her cult rather than the evolution of Guadalupan devotion and theologies. Our Lady of Guadalupe breaks new ground by exploring the origins of the Guadalupe tradition, the history of Guadalupan devotion, and past and present theological reflections on Guadalupe. In tracing the development of the Guadalupe tradition over half a millennium, as well as its origins. meaning, and significance for today, this volume illuminates the most consequential expression of faith indigenous to Christianity in the Americas.
