The Church honours St. Michael as one of the most important angels in heaven. Devotion to St. Michael, invoked as the Protector of the Church against the power of Satan, has grown steadily throughout the centuries. St. Lawrence Justinian wrote, "Let all acknowledge St. Michael as their protector, and be devoted to him." He guards us through life, directs us on our way, and conducts us to our eternal home. St. Michael is popularly invoked as the patron of police officers and security guards, radio and telecommunications; paramedics and medical technicians, and the Church.
